Abhyanga is a Sanskrit word that means “oil application or oil massage.” This therapeutic massage is designed to nourish, relax and detox the body. Oils used for the Abhyanga depends on the individual’s constitution and specific health conditions after the naardi parikshan/ Pulse reading.

The age old technique uses warm oil which is massaged into the skin using specific strokes and techniques. The massage is usually performed by one or more therapists and the strokes are directed towards the heart to enhance circulation and lymphatic drainage. Each session typically lasts for 60 minutes.

Benefits of Abhyanga go beyond relaxation, improved circulation, rejuvenation and detoxification.

  • Provides strength to the body and weaker organs.
  • Beatifies body and delays ageing
  • Pacifies Vata , Pita and Kapha disorders
  • Promotes sleep, complexion and softens the skin.
