The Nose — The Gateway to Health and Vitality
In Ayurveda, the nose is far more than a breathing organ—it is the “doorway to the brain” (Shiraso Dwaram). The daily practice of putting ghee or medicated oil into the nostrils is called Nasya Kriya, an ancient technique that balances the doshas in the head and neck region, improves immunity, and promotes clarity of mind and longevity.
Timing is Everything: Why Nasya Must Be Done During Kapha Kaal
According to Ayurveda, the Kapha time of day—between 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM—is the most effective window for performing Nasya.
Why Kapha Kaal?
- Kapha is heavy, moist, and sticky in nature.
- During this time, mucus accumulation is naturally higher in the body.
- Nasya done during Kapha Kaal helps to dislodge and eliminate excess Kapha, clears the sinuses, and allows herbs to penetrate deeply into tissues.
- It promotes better absorption, enhances the effectiveness of herbs, and protects the brain and respiratory system.
Important Caution: Don’t Do Nasya When It’s Raining or Cloudy
As per Ayurvedic texts, Nasya should not be done:
- During rainy weather
- On cloudy or highly humid days
This is because the atmospheric moisture disturbs Vata and Kapha, which may cause the oil to get trapped in sinuses, potentially leading to heaviness or congestion. Always ensure the weather is dry and stable before performing Nasya.

Use of Anutailam for Viral Protection & Hair Growth
Anutailam is a traditional, herbal nasal oil made from powerful ingredients like:
- Yashtimadhu, Cardamom, Cinnamon
- Goat’s milk, Lotus, and Dashamoola
Its application forms a protective coating in the nasal cavity, preventing the entry of dust, allergens, and airborne viruses.
Regular use also nourishes the brain and scalp, strengthens hair roots, and reduces Pitta-driven hair fall and greying.
